DOVER — Chaz Johnson, 22, of Dover, was arrested on weapons charges following a trespassing complaint Wednesday, authorities said.

Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said that, shortly after 5 p.m., officers were called to a residence on Lamplighter Lane for a report of people trespassing there.

Police contacted Mr. Johnson inside the home. He was taken into custody without further incident and found in possession of a .380-caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number, Cpl. Schmid said.

A computer check showed that the suspect was wanted by Milford police for a robbery in October 2022, he added.

Mr. Johnson was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, second-degree conspiracy and third-degree assault. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $62,000 secured bail.

Additionally, he was issued $6,000 unsecured bail on charges of first-degree criminal trespass and possession of a weapon with a removed, obliterated or altered serial number.
