Water, sewer plan approved for Somerset Crossing

Posted

PRINCESS ANNE Somerset Crossing, the newest commercial development in Princess Anne, received approval from the Somerset County Sanitary Commission for its water and sewer plan.

Located north of Food Lion at the end of Brittingham Lane the former 62-acre campground will have highway access via UMES Boulevard which will be extended west across the southbound lane of U.S. 13. This latest site plan from March is different than one reviewed by the Princess Anne Commissioners in June 2020 and now includes an unnamed pharmacy fronting U.S. 13 instead of a supermarket and retail stores on a back lot.

Still in the plan are a proposed motel and a professional medical/office building behind what will be a new Royal Farms.

An area 50 by 50 ft. is delineated in the plan for a sewer pump station, which the Sanitary District’s engineer is designing in conjunction with the developer, Delaware-based Princess Anne LLC. The property, allocated for 200 EDUs, is 62 acres with 37 acres zoned Commercial-2 and 25 acres zoned Residential-2.

In the fall of 2020 the state approved it for inclusion in the town’s Enterprise Zone which provides for tax credits for newly-hired full-time employees.
