Washington Academy and High School puts call out for students to design flag for all sports

PRINCESS ANNE — Following the success of a design contest earlier this year for a new school flag, students at Washington Academy and High School are being asked to come up with a flag to represent all of its sports teams.

The winning design is to incorporate all school sports, from football and soccer to bocce and baseball plus cheerleading, just to name a few, and the school name or abbreviation, school colors and the Jaguar mascot must also appear.

School nurse Lynne Brumley is the managing this contest with the winning flag to be displayed outside sports venues.

The selected design will be made suitable for flying with the winner receiving a $50 gift card to a restaurant of his or her choice. Email entries to lbrumley@somerset.k12.md.us this week by July 15 and do not include your name on the design itself so judges will not know who it’s by.

Earlier this year Logan Lankford had as design that placed the Jaguar mascot prominently centered over the state flag plus added WAHS and the #Jags hashtag to win the school flag contest for which the 11th grader received a $30 gift card.

In addition to the sports mentioned above, WAHS also fields teams in field hockey, track (indoor and outdoor), golf, basketball, weight lifting and conditioning, cross country, softball and tennis
