Wanted Bridgeville man arrested after chase

LEWES — A wanted 22-year-old Bridgeville man was arrested after leading troopers on a vehicle pursuit Thursday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

Marquez Brewer was wanted on an active felony warrant for a shooting incident on Mill Park Drive in the Coverdale community of Bridgeville, police said. He was located in a parking lot at the Red Mill in at 16218 Coastal Highway, and fled in a vehicle, police said.

A chase ensued, and police said Mr. Brewer’s vehicle struck two DSP cars and a civilian’s vehicle. The chase ended after Mr. Brewer lost control of his vehicle on Holly Tree Road near Ellendale, police said. The vehicle traveled into a field, and DSP then disabled it, according to Cpl. Pepper.

Mr. Brewer resisted arrest but was taken into custody, police said. He was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus for treatment of minor injuries and medically cleared, police said.

Mr. Brewer was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, first-degree reckless endangering, and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution for violation of probation and a secured bond.

Charges related to the vehicle pursuit and collisions were pending, police said.
