The presidential election of 2024 delivers a situation that puts most people on both sides of the aisle in no man’s land. Those on the right are left with former President Donald Trump. He spends a lot of his time and money fighting legal battles connected to his previous presidential term. He also finds himself ramping up his rhetoric of name calling and personal accusations against anyone who might look like they would be an obstacle in his quest to move forward in power and politics.
Those on the left have Vice President Kamala Harris. She proved she had unelectable qualities in the last Democratic presidential primary in 2020. She has stood in the shadows of President Joe Biden these last four years, as the border czar who could hardly ever visit the southern border she was tasked to protect. Vice President Harris has struggled with being articulate and at times seems to fail to read the room when serious issues are at hand.
Thank God we have more to trust in than mere human leaders. The Bible, God’s word, tells us that, someday, we will have a truly righteous leader coming to rule the world, who will not be elected. Revelation 19 speaks of Jesus coming to reign and rule in truth, faithfulness and righteousness. In Daniel 2:45, it says that his reign and rule will surpass all other earthly kingdoms. His is a kingdom that will be formed “without earthly hands.”
In our day, we will vote according to our convictions the best we know how. We will respect and honor the candidate that prevails in any given election. We will still be thankful for the United States of America, with its freedoms and liberties. And we will await the coming of a truly righteous king, who will reign forever and ever.
