Posted

CRISFIELD — Janes Island State Park is hosting a trash cleanup 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Volunteers will be transported to various locations on Janes Island including ferrying people to and from the island aboard boats to collect as much litter as possible.

As space is limited on these boats, please call the Park Office at 410-968-1565 to register.

The cleanup is part of National Public Lands Day, the nation’s largest single-day volunteer event for parklands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September volunteers are invited to help restore and improve public lands around the country.

For details call 410-968-1565 or email Ranger Mark Herring at mark.herring@maryland.gov. Bring water, a picnic lunch, gloves, sunscreen and bug spray. The rain date is Sunday.
