Two-month Milford drug investigation brings arrests

MILFORD — A two-month long drug investigation concluded Thursday with three search warrant executions, a traffic stop and multiple arrests, Milford police spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten said.

As a result of the investigation, Semaj E. Eley, 19, of Milford, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a drug property, second-degree conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $8,000 unsecured bond.

Latonya M. Burton, 37, of Milford, was arrested and charged with possession of deadly weapon by person who also possesses a controlled substance, maintaining a drug property, second-degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of marijuana. She was presented at JP Court 2 and released on $9,000 unsecured bond.

During the investigation, police said, two 9mm handguns were seized, along with ammunition, drug paraphernalia, heroin, and marijuana.

Also, police said, two people were issued summons for possession of marijuana. In addition, a person contacted during the investigation was found to be wanted by the Sussex County Family Court.

The Milford Police Department’s Drug Unit and Special Operations Group were part of the investigation, along with the Dover Police Department’s Drug Unit and Special Operations Response Team, Wilmington Police Department’s K-9 Unit, and the Delaware State Police.
