Two arrests made following Dover liquor store burglary

DOVER - Dover residents Sierra Melvin, 18, and a 16-year-old male were arrested in connection with a liquor store burglary on Jan. 5, authorities said.

Police said the burglary occurred at Jolly Joe’s Liquor Store at 1160 White Oak Road and the defendants were identified through surveillance video. Officers were called to the business at 3:12 a.m.

Arrest warrants were obtained and the teen was taken into custody without incident after a foot pursuit in the unit block of Stevenson Drive on Jan. 7. Ms. Melvin was in the area at the time and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Both persons were charged with third-degree burglary, theft under $1,500, criminal mischief $1,000 but less than $5,000, and second-degree conspiracy.

The teen was also charged with resisting arrest.

Ms. Melvin was released on an own recognizance bond and the teen was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center.
