HARRINGTON — Two men were arrested following an investigation of vehicle break-ins at a Harrington hotel.
Harrington Police spokesman Capt. Adam S. Gillespie said officers were contacted by hotel staff after observing two males entering unlocked vehicles in the parking lot in the early morning hours. Officers were able to identify the suspects by viewing security footage from the building and located them in a rented room in the hotel.
According to Cpt. Gillespie, Robert McKewen, 25, of Dover, and Gavin Kulhanek, 27, of Felton, were taken into custody without incident and transported to Harrington Police Department where they were charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy in the second degree, and theft under $1,500.
Both men were presented to Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Lewes via video phone, according to the Harrington Police Department, who said Mr. Kulhanek was later released on bond, and Mr. McKewen was later committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in lieu of $3,000 cash bond.
