HURLOCK - The National Weather Service and local law enforcement confirmed that a tornado was on the ground near Hurlock at 5:02 p.m., on Wednesday, moving towards Federalsburg.

Warnings had been issued through the afternoon that tornadoes, as well as high winds and hail, could develop as the remnants of Hurricane Ida moved through the area.

Laurie Meekins on Shiloh Camp Road south of Hurlock photographed the funnel cloud just before it touched down,  and afterwards as it began to move towards her location.

Dorchester County and the rest of Delmarva were bracing for more heavy thunderstorms, with the threat of hail and tornadoes through the evening.

No injuries as a result of the tornado had been reported by 6 p.m.
