Trick-or-treat times in Dorchester and surrounding area

• Dorchester County — The Dorchester County Council announced on Oct. 5 that Halloween will be observed by county residents on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. for children 12 and under. This policy will not supercede prescheduled times and dates set by municipalities. 

Residents living outside town limits should follow the county policy set forth by the County Council, unless they intend to carry their children into a town.

Following are trick-or-treat hours in the area’s towns:
• Secretary - Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m.

• Hurlock - Trunk or treat Oct. 23 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Preston Frogz will also have a trunk or treat event starting at 2 p.m.

• Preston - Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m.

• Denton - Oct. 30, 6-7:30 p.m.

• Greensboro - Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m.

• Ridgely - Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m.

• Marydel - Oct. 31, 5-7 p.m.

• Henderson - Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m.

• Hillsboro - Oct. 31, 5:30-7 p.m.

• Federalsburg - Oct. 31, 6-7:30 p.m.

- Trick or treaters are encouraged to carry a working flashlight and wear costumes that will be visible to motor vehicle traffic.
- All children should be accompanied by an adult.
- Trick or treaters must be 12 years of age or under. Youth that are identified as older than 12 years of age will be encouraged to discontinue trick or treating.
- Residents participating in treating are encouraged to display outside lighting as a way of acknowledging participation.
- Trick or treaters are asked not to frequent residences that do not display outside lighting.
- Youth identified as unruly will be dealt with according to the law.
- The town asks parents to be responsible, and assist the police in making trick or treating a safe and fun activity for everyone. If your child is beyond the age for this activity, please do not allow them to participate.
