WESTOVER, — The Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester County Health Departments are excited to announce the launch of a new month-long anti-tobacco and vape campaign in observation of Take Down Tobacco Day which took place on April 1, 2024.
The Take Down Tobacco initiative is a national campaign of activism that takes place each Spring and empowers youth to stand out, speak up and take a stand against “Big Tobacco.” The initiative not only empowers students to say no to tobacco and vape products, but also gives them the tools to become a tobacco and vape-free generation.
Students from Crisfield, Mardela, and Snow Hill High Schools joined forces to film a youth- focused anti-tobacco commercial. The campaign addresses each county health department’s goal of raising awareness about tobacco and vape use among youth, and raising youth awareness about the tobacco industry’s deceptive marketing tactics.
The commercial will air April 9 - May 31 across multiple platforms, and can be viewed on the Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester County Health Department Facebook pages (@somersethealthmd, @wicomicohealth, @worcesterhealth).
