Toni Maria Tawes, age 77, of Crisfield, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania on August 10, 1947, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas "Baby John" Evans, Jr. and Theresa Elizabeth "Mother Theresa" DiDonato Evans.
She was a 1965 graduate of Crisfield High School and the owner and operator of Delmarvalous Cakes. Toni also worked at Scott Tawes, CPA for over 25 years.
Toni loved baking, hosting spaghetti dinners and events for her family and neighborhood group, and reading. Toni had a special place in her heart for pets, especially her dog, "The Mister" Bentley.
Her memberships included Immanuel United Methodist Church and the former Junior Auxiliary Board of McCready Hospital.
She is survived by three children, Scott Tawes (Stefanie), Keisha Evans (Bob), and Rochelle Simpkins (Kirk); grandchildren, Kevin Marshall, Kyle Simpkins, Thomas Simpkins, Nate Evans, Jacob Evans, Simon Evans and Scottie Tawes; nieces, Laura Howard and Anita Evans; nephew, Troy Evans; great-nephews, Jesse Howard and Dylan Hill; great-niece, Taylor Evans; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Evans. She is also survived by her companion of 30 years, Fred Nelson, and his sons, Kris Nelson (Dennis), and Ryan Nelson (Johnnie) and their children Turner and Parker; Fred's sister, Connie Windsor; and Toni's lifelong best friend, Diane Merriman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Theresa Evans; her brother, Robert "Muggsy" Evans; and her great-niece, Tiffany Theresa Howard.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Harvey Tyler, Rev. Bob Daniels, and Pastor James Wengerd were Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a visitation was from 10-11 AM. Interment followed in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
