GOLF
Polytech, CR contending in state golf: Polytech High’s Kylie Yiengst carded a 3-under-par 69 to lead the girls’ division of the DIAA state tournament after the opening day on Tuesday.
Indian River’s Sarah Lydic is one shot back after shooting a 70 in the two day event being played at Maple Dale Country C;ub.
In the boys’ division, Tatnall’s Jack Homer carded the lone under-par round with a 71. He tallied four birdies and three bogeys. Homer’s teammate, Win Thomas, the defending champion, sits in second place with a 73.
Tatnall leads the team standings with a score of 310, followed by Polytech at 311 and Caesar Rodney at 313.
The field will be cut to the low 60 and ties for Wednesday’s final round. The cut stopped at 87 for both divisions.
