DOVER — City police are investigating three shootings, including one that left a 23-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to the back early Sunday.

According to authorities, officers were called to Capital Inn at 1426 N. Dupont Highway just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday and located the wounded man. He was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus for treatment.

On Thursday, a shooting was reported at a residence in the 700 block of Slaughter Street in the Simon Circle community. An unoccupied vehicle in front of the home was struck twice by gunfire at approximately 5:40 p.m., spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said. On Sunday at 10:55 p.m., a window of that residence was struck by gunfire, as well, according to police.

The cases are not believed to be connected, police said.

Investigations into the incidents were ongoing, and police asked anyone with information to call 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or here; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
