Dorchester Center for the Arts has a full weekend of artful activities.

Saturday, Dec. 11, DCA will host the Second Saturday Artists’ Reception from 5-7:30 p.m. for the Wednesday Morning Artists’ Gallery of Gifts and the National African American Quilt Guild Exhibition. There will be complimentary refreshments, and all are welcome. The evening includes a performance by Ashley Watkins, flutist, from 6-6:30 p.m. Ms. Watkins grew up in Cambridge and earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance in 2007 from James Madison University in Virginia, and a Master of Music in Performance in 2010 from The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.

Sunday, Dec. 12, features the final author talk in the fall literary series with co-authors Veronica Li and Sverrir Sigurdsson presenting “Viking Voyager: An Icelandic Memoir.” This book is a true story of Sverrir’s adventures as a modern-day Viking traveling the world, not to loot and plunder but to learn and contribute on the larger stage of human endeavors.
