SEAFORD — Sussex Montessori Public Charter School was joined by U.S. Sen. Tom Carper and representatives from the offices of U.S. Sen. Chris Coons and U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, all D-Del., as well as members of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development, on Nov. 18 to announce two grants totaling nearly $400,000 from Rural Development to the school.

Sussex Montessori, serving grades K-6, received the monies to fund capital improvements to its campus.

The grants will facilitate additional classrooms, a natural playground, outdoor learning spaces and other projects.

The school is required to match these funds and has raised approximately 50% of the match. Its Giving Tuesday campaign was also dedicated to the project.
