DOVER — The Dover Police Department arrested Kiara Banks following a shooting Sunday on the west side of Silver Lake Park.
According to department spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman, at 6:47 p.m., police were called by a 27-year-old female, who said her car was shot while in the park. The victim said she was following the suspect vehicle to Woodcrest Apartment Homes in Dover.
Sgt. Hoffman said officers were able to determine that Ms. Banks, 26, was the suspect and that she was in Building 858 of the complex. Police surrounded the building and called for the suspect, and Ms. Banks and another female peacefully emerged.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence, and officers located a 9 mm handgun in a trash can, Sgt. Hoffman said.
Ms. Banks was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of first-degree reckless endangering, tampering with physical evidence and criminal mischief.
