Support for families of law enforcement, first responders and military personnel hits the road Sunday with a statewide event.

A motorcycle ride is set to support Concerns of Police Survivors, a nonprofit organization that assists in rebuilding the lives of families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Delaware C.O.P.S. serves the state in providing peer support to survivors of fallen officers.

“What we support is military and all 911 and the police,” said Magnolia resident John Greene, state director for the Delaware Hogs and Heroes Foundation, which is hosting the event. “Delaware doesn’t have a Concerns of Police Survivors ride, so hopefully, we can build it up in a couple years and get really big like all the other states that are doing it for years.”

The ride has two starting points: American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro and the Newark Veterans of Foreign Wars. The two legs will meet at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3, south of Dover Air Force Base.

Registration for both starts opens at 10 a.m. Kickstands go up at 11.

The cost the day of the event is $30, which includes a shirt. Back-seat riders can participate for free but do not get shirts.

Those not wanting to ride but wishing to offer support can attend the meetup at Lodge 3.

There will be DJ entertainment, several food trucks, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Drinks will be served inside the lodge.

Items for sale will include some thin blue line merchandise.
