DOVER — As the Delaware Division of Public Health has reported nearly 1 million vaccines administered, 29 new COVID-19 cases were announced Saturday, bringing the state’s total to 109,528 since March 2020.

New Castle County had the highest increase with 18 new cases, followed by Sussex and Kent, which reported six and five, respectively.

The state also reported three deaths — all from New Castle County — bringing the total to 1,682.

All three who passed away had underlying health conditions, the state reported, and were between ages 56 and 67. None were residents of long-term care facilities.

The number of COVID hospitalizations decreased by four, DPH’s website reported. New Castle County now has 11 people hospitalized, Sussex has 10 and Kent has one.

There are currently four people reported as critically ill due to COVID-19.

A total of 977,165 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in Delaware, an increase of 848 from the previous day. About 68.8% of the population older than 18 has received at least one dose.

At least 52% of the state’s population has received at least one dose.

More women than men are fully vaccinated — about 55.5% are women and 44.5% are men.
