CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester Banner is currently holding its inaugural Stars of the Banner contest.
Stars of the Banner is a contest that allows readers to nominate and vote on their favorite businesses in multiple categories. In 2020, Dorchester County was part of the Stars of the Eastern Shore. It now has its own contest.
“I was truly blown away by the response to our Stars programs in 2020,” said Konrad LaPrade, Group Advertising Director for Independent Newsmedia’s Delmarva Division. “As we talked about 2021, launching a brand new Stars of the Banner was an easy decision. I love the Dorchester area, and am excited to see our readers vote to honor their favorite spots in the community.”
Stars of the Banner is an exciting honor for local businesses to earn in their respective category. Readers can nominate their favorites as many times as they want and in as many categories as they want. Readers just need to complete their nominations by the end of the day on Saturday, February 6.
Anyone that nominates favorites in 25 categories will earn a chance win $250.
“We have already started talking to the local businesses about this, and they are very excited,” LaPrade said. “Plus, we are planning a celebration this year that will truly honor and showcase our business partners.”
It’s easy for anyone to do. Simply choose a category, fill in the name of your favorite business and fill in your email address. Continue and complete the registration form. Everyone must register to nominate a business.

Once the nominations are completed, the voting will begin on Feb. 21 and run through March 20. Then, the winners will be recognized this May in a special print and online section once the voting phase has finished and the votes tallied and verified.
