The Hale-Byrnes House, the Stanton site of a 1777 Council of War between George Washington and his generals, has been memorialized in a painting that was unveiled Dec. 3. “Prelude to Brandywine” portrays the future president and his generals meeting three days after the Battle of Cooch’s Bridge.
