Speak Up: Response to American flag Speak Up

Posted

Flying an American flag holds a lot more responsibility than just attaching Old Glory to a rope and hoisting it up a pole. That’s what gets Bill Murphy, a veteran and resident of Ocean View, so riled up when he drives by flag displays and believes they are improperly arranged.

  • Maybe some people have not had instructions to fly a flag. Not everyone knows how to put up a flag or display it right. What might need to be done is companies that sell flags should put instructions in their packages, showing how to fly it for different occasions. To put it flat on the wall, I didn’t know that the side with the stars goes in the left-hand corner. Learned something new. Thanks. — Ronald Shaw
