Lake Forest High rolled to 66-12 victory over Woodbridge to remain unbeaten in Henlopen South wrestling on Wednesday night.

The Spartans (4-0 South, 7-2 overall), who won their first South title in 20 years last season, still have a division match left against Laurel next Wednesday.

Travis Wyatt (170 pounds) earned a 50-second pin for Lake Forest while Ayden Young (182) won by fall in one minute. The Spartans’ other pins came from DeMarcus Russ (132), Abdullah Ahmad-Statts (145), Nurrideen Ahmad-Statts (152), Shawn Ferrell (170), Travis Wyatt (195) and Tre`sonz Stanley (285).

The Blue Raiders got a pair of pins in their first three matches with Parker Short (106) and Patrick Luberisse (120) both winning by fall.

Sussex Central 34, Cape Henlopen 31: A 4-0 decision from Caden Cope (152) in the second-to-last individual bout clinched the Henlopen North win for the Golden Knights.

Cope's win gave Central a 34-26 advantage before the Vikings won the final match by tech fall.

The Golden Knights led 31-17 with four matches remaining. A second-period pin from Mikey Frederick (145) pulled Cape within 31-26 with two bouts left.
Gabe Cannon (182) had a 34-second pin for Central with Malachi Stratton (106) and Chase Murray (113) winning with back-to-back falls.

Dalton Deevey (220) and Joshua Wright (126) added pins for the Vikings.
Caesar Rodney 62, Polytech 16: Robert Meister (285) had a 48-second pin for the Riders’ quickest fall of the Henlopen North win.

CR also got pins from Alexander McEvoy (106), Antonio Darby (120), Marlon Smith (132), Cameron Cataldi (138), Cody Waski (145), Owen Dixon (170) and Shamar Nelson (195).

For the Panthers, Wyatt Simons (160) and Connor Bartlett (220) both had pins.

Milford 60, Sussex Tech 18: Jayden Morton (285) and Tim O’Hara (170) both picked up pins in under 40 seconds in the Buccaneers’ North victory.

Milford also got pins from Vincent Jenkins (113), Jack Thode (132), Aaron Briscoe (138), Hunter Durham (145), Ryan Mejia (152) and Averi Copes (160). The Bucs won six straight matches by fall.

Joesph Kane (182) and David DiCampli (195) had consecutive pins for the Ravens.

Delmar 43, Seaford 30: The Wildcats registered four pins in the Henlopen South victory.

Arthur Egolf (120) and Kendric Jones (120) posted back-to-back falls for Delmar which also got pins from Dustin Elliott (138) and Anthony Ennis (220).

The Blue Jays got a 27-second pin from Sa’muary Long (285) and a 46-second fall from Sean Martinez (160). Seaford also got a pin from Coleman Willey (152).

Laurel 58, Indian River 12: The Bulldogs collected six pins in the Henlopen South victory.

Winning by fall for Laurel were Brennan Harrington (106), Connor Smith (113), Stanley Pete (120), Travis Rife (182), James Johnson (195) and Brayden Hearn (220).

The Indians got pins from Jayvion Chandler (152) and T.J. Burke (285).

Boys’ basketball

Delmarva Christian 71, St. Mark’s 57: Dontarius Jones netted 27 points and Gabe Herling added 22 in the Royals’ non-conference win.

Brayden Stonebraker added 12 points for Delmarva Christian (8-2), which out-scored the Spartans, 36-28, in the second half.

College bowling

DSU’s Readon honored: Delaware State freshman Sydney Readon has been selected as the MEAC Rookie of the Week after finishing ninth in the individual standings at the Northeast Classic.

Readon was second among MEAC bowlers in the tournament, with a traditional average of 222.0. She eclipsed the 200-pin mark three times — including a weekend-best 266. She was also strong in Baker play, averaging 20.5 pins per frame and 9.01 on first balls.
