Applicants wanted for Somerset County Historical Society's summer history camp

PRINCESS ANNE — The Somerset County Historical Society is again sponsoring its Time Travelers History Camp this summer for students who will be in the fifth or sixth grade this fall, including home schoolers.

The sessions are Monday through Friday June 26-30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Teackletonia (Teackle Mansion) which Somerset County fourth grade classes visit each year. There is no cost, but transportation and lunch are not provided.

Campers will explore traditional crafts and trades, cooking, games, country dancing and more including the history of the early 19th century and how local inhabitants including Native and African Americans lived and interacted.

Applicants must answer the question why they would like to attend, and include a recommendation letter from a school representative, coach, religious or other adult leader.
