Somerset County follows state and lifts local COVID-19 State of Emergency July 1
PRINCESS ANNE — Following Governor Larry Hogan's June 15, 2021 announcement that Maryland will lift all COVID-19 related emergency mandates and restrictions effective July 1, 2021, Somerset County government will also rescind the local State of Emergency.
During a Special Session on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, the Board of Commissioners for Somerset County signed a resolution ending the Declared State of Emergency in Somerset County effective 12:01 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021.
Maryland has been under a state of emergency since March 5, 2020 and Somerset County followed with its own local emergency on March 23, 2020. The outbreak of the coronavirus known as COVID-19 started in China in 2019 causing a worldwide pandemic.
