Snow leads to closures throughout Delaware

As the snow continues to fall, here's a list of closures throughout the state.

COVID-19 testing

The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services posted COVID-19 testing and vaccination site closures given the weather:

  • Curative canceled a trailer in Rehoboth Beach (Epworth United Methodist Church) due to a staffing issue. Curative is rerouting those appointments to Georgetown Plaza.
  • The Modern Maturity Center's site in Dover is now closed, and Curative has notified all people with appointments there. Curative is not able to reroute those appointments.
  • Curative’s customer support notified all patients that the State Service Center sites opened at 10 a.m., and patients will be seen until 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Cape May-Lewes Ferry

The Delaware River and Bay Authority  (DRBA) announced cancellations for its afternoon Cape May-Lewes Ferry schedules.

James E. Salmon, public information officer for the DRBA, announced changes for the organizations facilities at 11 a.m. on Monday.

“We’re doing okay," Mr. Salmon said. "Speed limits have been reduced on Delaware Memorial Bridge to 35 mph.

"Due to wind/weather, the Cape May–Lewes Ferry has cancelled this afternoon's departures from 2:30 p.m. through the end of the day.  The 12:15 p.m. Lewes departure (was) the last of the day.”

“No interruptions at our airports.”

DART closures

 DART Bus services in Kent and Sussex Counties will be suspended as follows:

Route 101: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 3:10 p.m.

Route 102: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 3 p.m.

Route 104: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 3:05 p.m.

Route 105: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 3 p.m.

Route 107: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 2:30 p.m.

Route 108: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 3 p.m.

Route 109: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 2:35 p.m.

Route 112: last roundtrip leaves Dover Transit Ctr at 3 p.m.

Route 117: last roundtrip departs Camden Walmart at 1:33 p.m.

Route 120: last roundtrip departs Scarborough Rd. Park & Ride at 3:02 p.m.

Route 201: last roundtrip departs Lewes Transit Center (LTC) at 4:30 p.m.

Route 204: last roundtrip departs LTC at 4:35 p.m.

Route 206: last roundtrip departs Georgetown Transit Hub at 4:15 p.m.

Route 212: last roundtrip departs Georgetown Transit Hub at 1:33 p.m.

Route 215: last roundtrip departs Rehoboth at 3:19 p.m.

Route 301: last northbound trip departs Dover at 3:05 p.m., last southbound trip departs Wilmington at 4:15 p.m.

Route 302: last southbound trip departs Newark at 3 p.m., last northbound trip departs Dover at 5:05 p.m.

Route 303: last trip departs Dover Transit Ctr at 2:41 p.m.

Route 307: last trip departs Lewes at 1:09 p.m.

DART Connect: last pick up at 4 p.m.

New Castle County bus services will continue to operate with delays.

State and county offices

Many entities joined schools in closing for the day, including the state of Delaware, which announced that all offices are closed during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nonessential employees are not to report to work for this period. Essential employees designated for severe weather are to report as scheduled.

Sussex County government also closed its offices Monday.

Judicial branch offices will be closed in all three counties Monday. Justice of the Peace courts 11 (New Castle County), 7 (Kent County) and 3 (Sussex County) will remain open.

The Rehoboth Beach and Dover public libraries also are closed.

State of Delaware Offices in Kent and Sussex County will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Non-essential employees are to report to work at that time, while essential employees designated for severe weather will report as scheduled.

Health services

In addition, TidalHealth announced a slate of closures. Its Primary Care and Specialty Care physician offices are closed. Patients with appointments will be called to reschedule. All TidalHealth Immediate Care Centers are alsoclosed. TidalHealth Wound Care & Hyperbaric is closed in both Salisbury, Maryland, and Seaford.

All outpatient services at the TidalHealth Mears Campus in Seaford are closed. TidalHealth Adult Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation in Salisbury and Ocean Pines, Maryland, will close at 11 a.m. All TidalHealth outpatient Physical Medicine (physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech) clinics are closed, as well as its Lymphedema Clinic. Patients are being called to reschedule.

The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce office is closed Monday, due to the inclement weather. The chamber plans to reopen Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

Due to current weather conditions, Beebe Healthcare announced the following closings: Georgetown Walk-In Care Center closed at noon today; Millville and Millsboro Walk-In Care Centers will be closing at 1 p.m. today.

All Outpatient Lab services, Imaging, and Physical Rehabilitation will be closed today as well.

Scheduled patients will be contacted to reschedule their appointments.

All Beebe Healthcare Primary Care and Specialty Care offices appointments will be converted to telemedicine instead of in-person. All scheduled patients have been contacted. Both of Beebe’s Emergency Departments remain open for emergencies.

If you need emergency care always call 911 first. As a reminder, South Coastal Emergency Department near Millville is open and ready to care for you in that area. Please do not utilize emergency departments for COVID-19 testing.

With the ongoing winter storm, Beebe Healthcare’s two cancer centers closed at 3 p.m., which included van transportation. The cancer centers are located in Rehoboth (Tunnell Cancer Center) and near Millville (South Coastal Cancer Center).

Due to a loss of power in an outpatient building, the diagnostic testing scheduling phone line (302-645-3278) is offline. Patients will not be able to schedule a diagnostic test (such as lab, imaging, etc.) during this time. Once power is restored, scheduled patients will be contacted to be rescheduled.

All Outpatient Lab services, Imaging, and Physical Rehabilitation are now closed today.

New Castle County closings

Though southern Delaware is receiving the bulk of Monday’s snowstorm, many offices in New Castle County closed, and one Town Council meeting was postponed.

The town of Middletown’s offices closed at 10 a.m. Monday and will reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m. Its Town Council meeting is postponed until Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Additionally, the Levels Road Dog Park in Middletown is closed until further notice.

Newark city offices were closed all day Monday. A notice said crews are prepared to perform snow removal on residential streets, as well as from paved trails, once the snowfall stops.

Newark officials asked residents to park cars in driveways, if possible, to assist crews in effectively removing snow from streets.

City residents and businesses were also reminded that sidewalks must be clear of snow or ice 24 hours after officials declare that the storm has ended. Citations will be issued for noncompliance, in accordance with Section 26-3 of the municipal code.

A representative from the city of Wilmington’s 311 line said its services were operating normally, but that the trash and recycling schedule will be adjusted. Residents will be notified accordingly.

New Castle County offices remained open but announced on social media that the Hockessin Recreation Center, the Absalom Jones Senior Center and The Art Studio were closed Monday.

A winter storm warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Monday.
