SMYRNA — A Smyrna man was charged for felony driving under the influence following a traffic stop Sunday, Delaware State Police said.

Authorities said that Dustin Ellsworth, 38, was driving a Mazda 3 south on DuPont Parkway at a high speed when stopped by a trooper at approximately 8:15 a.m. He was the vehicle’s sole occupant.

Mr. Ellsworth displayed signs of impairment, Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said, and was taken into custody without incident. Computer checks showed that he has prior convictions for DUI.

He was also charged with speeding. Mr. Ellsworth was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released after posting a $5,050 secured bond.
