Seven COVID deaths reported by state

DOVER — Seven additional deaths connected to COVID-19 were reported in the Delaware Division of Public Health daily update Saturday, raising the state’s total number to 1,636 since March 11, 2020.

All seven cases involved persons with underlying health conditions, and two victims were residents of long-term care facilities.
Three of the deaths came in New Castle County, while two each occurred in Kent and Sussex counties. The ages of those who died ranged from 68 to 88.

There have been 812 deaths in New Castle County overall, while Sussex and Kent counties have seen 486 and 338, respectively.

According to the DPH, 83% of all COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware have involved persons 65 and older. Those ages 50 to 64 have account for 13% of fatalities.

There have been 820 women who have died due to COVID-19, and 816 men. The overall death rate in the state is 13.2 per 10,000 people.
