Seaford residents charged with drug offenses

SEAFORD - Seaford residents Tracy Hawkins, 44, and Gerald Watkins, 49, were charged with drug offenses following a Tuesday morning traffic stop, authorities said.

According to Delaware State Police, the stopped occurred after Mr. Watkins committed a turn signal violation while driving on Pine Drive approaching the intersection at Bethel Concord Road at approximately 1:32 a..m.

Police said Mr. Watkins was not cooperative when contacted by troopers, and Ms. Hawkins was seen making furtive movements inside the vehicle. Both were taken into custody without incident, police said.

A vehicle search located approximately three MDMA pills, approximately 0.049 grams of suspected heroin, a large knife and drug paraphernalia, police said. Ms. Hawkins is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing deadly weapons.

Police said the duo was transported to Troop 5. Ms. Hawkins was searched, police said, and was found in possession of approximately 0.329 grams of additional suspected heroin.

Ms. Hawkins was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts). She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $17,600 cash bond.

Mr. Watkins was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts) and traffic offenses. He was arraigned by JP Court 3 and released on a $14,501 unsecured bond.
