SEAFORD — Delaware State Police are investigating a bicycle accident that killed a 31-year-old Seaford man on Friday morning in Seaford, according to police spokesperson Master Cpl. Heather Pepper.

At around 10:46 a.m. on Friday, a 2020 GMC Acadia being driven by a 56-year-old Seaford woman was going eastbound on Stein Highway in the left turn lane approaching the intersection of Front Street.

The bicyclist, identified as Zachary L. Gosciejew, was riding eastbound along the westbound shoulder of Stein Highway, approaching the same intersection. Master Cpl. Pepper said as the Acadia crossed through the intersection and began turning left onto Front Street, the bicyclist continued straight through the intersection and collided with the left front of the vehicle.

After the collision, the Acadia came to a stop in the northbound travel lane of Front Street next to the cyclist.

The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Acadia was not injured during the collision.

The intersection of Stein Highway and Front Street was partially shut down for about three hours as the scene was processed and cleared.

This collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit.
