With the weather warming, outdoor concerts are the name of the game this summer with various downstate towns and cities hosting shows, some on a weekly basis.

The Georgetown Concert Series is back and on the move, with nine evening performances beginning next month at a new venue — Sandhill Fields.

This year’s series — offering concerts Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer — begins June 10 with 33 1/3 and wraps with a back-to-back bonanza: The Funsters on Aug. 25 and The Kathie Martin Express (formerly Kathie Martin & the Hot Rods) on Aug. 26.

The 2021 lineup and sponsors were announced this week by Georgetown Mayor Bill West, who facilitated the concert series eight years ago.

“I started it in 2013. We had a few, and then, it took off the next year, and we’ve been going full city ever since,” said Mayor West.

In addition to music and entertainment, several vendors will be on hand during the concert performances. American Legion Post 8 will have its food truck available, while cool treats will be sold from The Frozen Farmer.

Sandhill Fields, on Sandhill Road north of the CHEER Community Center, offers restroom facilities, a playground, a pavilion and athletic fields.

“They have walking paths for those that want to come out early and walk, and fields for kids and grandkids to come out and kick a soccer ball,” said Mayor West.

There is no admission fee for these concerts, which will all begin at 7 p.m.

•The venerable Dover Performing Arts Series on The Green is back for its 45th year.

Parking is available around The Green and nearby on Legislative Mall. In case of inclement weather, call the Weather Line by dialing (302) 736-7155. All free shows begin at 7 p.m. on Thursdays.

The season begins next week with classic rock band Double Shot and runs through Sept. 2

. The series spans the gamut of genres from jazz to rhythm and blues to acoustic music.

Reptile World even returns this year showing off all creatures great and small on July 15.

•Kent County Public Library brings back its popular Arts in the Park free live entertainment series starting Wednesday through Aug. 11.

Pack a picnic basket, bring a lawn chair or blanket and meet up at Brecknock County Park (80 Old Camden Road) in Camden every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s lineup includes a diverse roster of musical genres, including local favorites and new-to-the-Kent-County-area performers:

It starts with Country By Night, a high-energy band playing originals, Top 40 country, rock and more.

It wraps up with Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre presentation of “Hansel & Gretel”.

•The Smyrna Summer Concert Series started Wednesday at George C. Wright Municipal Park with Too Tall Slim and The Guilty Pleasures and will continue June 9 at 6 p.m. with pop/R&B singer Nic Snow. It runs every other week until Aug. 4 with alternative folk singer Shane Palko.

•In Milton, free concerts in Memorial Park starts Wednesday at 7 p.m. with the classic rock sounds of 33 1/3. It goes every Wednesday until Sept. 1 with the western swing band Big Hat No Cattle.

The park will also host the Broadkill Music Festival Sept. 4 with six bands including the U.S. Navy Band Country Current from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

• The city of Lewes will present 12 bands for the summer concert series in Stango Park with some modifications for social distancing. Every Tuesday evening from June 8 to Aug. 24, there will be a free concert starting at 7 p.m. on the open air stage in Stango Park next to the Lewes Public Library. There is no indoor rain location due to COVID restrictions and limitations. If inclement weather is in the forecast, the concert will be canceled and notifications will be sent out by an email blast and posted on their Facebook page.

The series opens with the U.S. Navy Band Country Current and wraps up with the U.S. Navy Commodores.

•After a year off, the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand concert series kicks off June 11 with Mike Hines and The Look.

Concerts will take place every Friday though Sunday at 8 p.m. through Sept. 4. The series will be full of local favorites, military bands and tributes to such acts as Journey, Elton John and The Rolling Stones.

Party bands, swing, jazz, blues and rock will be represented throughout the summer.

•The town of Bethany Beach will hold their concert series Thursdays in June, July and August at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays in September and October at 6:30 p.m.

All told, more than 150 performers will make up 25 shows this summer.

It starts June 10 at 7:30 with The Uptown Band from Reading, Pennsylvania and will go until Oct. 30 with Deaf Dog & The Indictments, advertised as “the world’s only (almost) all-judge band.”
