Roundup: Smyrna makes it six in a row with win over Ravens

Three different players scored goals as Smyrna High downed Sussex Tech, 3-0, in Henlopen North field hockey on Tuesday afternoon.

The victory was the sixth in a row for the Eagles (4-2 North, 10-2 overall), who scored twice in the second half.

Ryla Wilber (1 assist), Madison Simpson and Dru Moffett all had goals as Smyrna held advantages of 21-2 in shots and 7-3 in corners.

Bryannah Coral had nine saves for the Ravens.

Caesar Rodney 2, Polytech 1: Madelyn Reed’s overtime goal lifted the Riders to the North victory.

Hannah Glanden tied the game in the third quarter while Peyton Shields assisted on both goals for CR.

Megan Popp tallied a second-quarter goal for the Panthers.

Sussex Academy 3, Lake Forest 2: The Seahawks used a three-goal second quarter to take control before holding off the Spartans for the Henlopen South win.

Madison Leeper, Emma Westbrook and Callie Short all scored for Sussex Academy, which outshot Lake Forest, 19-8.

The Spartans got goals from Haydan Parker and Emma Massey.

Sussex Central 2, Milford 1: The Golden Knights tallied goals in the fourth quarter and overtime to earn the Henlopen North win.

Goalie Kianna Kelley made 29 saves for Central, which was outshot 31-4. The Buccaneers also held a 12-1 advantage in corners.

Beau Davis scored a second-quarter goal for Milford.

Boys’ soccer

Indian River 2, Cape Henlopen 0: Jordan Illian and Tristen Hood scored second-half goals to give the Indians the win.

IR finished with advantages of 17-6 in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks while Reece Stone made six saves.

The Vikings’ Dalson Case made 11 saves.

Caesar Rodney 7, Concord 0: Daniel Tebar Gomez netted three goals in a row in the second half to finish with four goals for the unbeaten Riders (11-0-1).

CR outshot the Raiders, 25-3, as it also got goals from Tate Wisniewski, Sawyer Ott and Djosonde Anathol. Kaden Childs made a pair of saves in the Riders’ fifth straight shutout.

Sussex Central 3, St. Andrews 0: The Golden Knights closed out the victory with a pair of second-half goals.

Ibrahim Leyva-Fojaco made five saves for Central, which held advantages of 9-5 in shots and 3-2 in corner kicks.

Delmar 2, Laurel 1: The Wildcats picked up the Henlopen South win in overtime.

Appoquinimink 3, Sussex Academy 0: The Jaguars blanked the Seahawks in a non-conference matchup.

Delcastle 9, Sussex Tech 0: The Cougars netted six second-half goals to close out the non-conference win.

Delcastle held edges of 17-5 in shots and 7-0 in corner kicks.

Volleyball

Delmarva Christian 3, Cape Henlopen 0: The Royals won their 13th match in a row with the 25-21, 25-13, 27-25 victory.

Rileigh Wilson had 14 kills for Cape with Megan Smith adding 21 assists and 10 digs.

Dover 3, Lake Forest 1: The Senators took the first two sets before posting a 25-10, 25-17, 22-25, 25-13 victory.

Kim Czepukaitis collected 18 kills and a pair of assists for Dover, which was also paced by Kendra Williams (13 kills,2 aces), Emma Hodgson (9 kills, 1 ace), Olivia Anyanwu (54 assists, 3 kills, 1 ace), Elizabeth Baughman (6 kills, 14 digs) and Olivia Czepukaitis (6 kills, 1 ace, 12 digs).

The Senators (5-0 North, 11-2 overall) have a chance to win their first Henlopen North title since 2006 when they host Smyrna (4-1, 8-4) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Caesar Rodney 3, Indian River 0: The Riders downed the Indians by scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-22 on Tuesday.

Alexandra Mardesich (14 kills, 11 digs) led CR along with Elianna Dyer (8 kills, 7 digs), Gabarielle Davis (17 assists, 11 digs) and Makenna Diem (15 digs).

Delmar 3, Sussex Tech 1: The Wildcats picked up a victory over the Ravens.

Sussex Central 3, Early College 0: The Golden Knights topped the Hornets by scores of 25-7, 25-3, 25-3.

Leading Central were Brenya Reid (16 kills, 5 aces) and Katelynn McTeer (8 aces, 15 assists).

Sussex Academy 3, Newark 0: The Seahawks earned a non-conference win on Tuesday.

College soccer

WOMEN, Penn 4, Delaware State 0: Geligne Franklin and Daysha Baca accounted for the Hornets’ shots on goal in their road loss on Monday.

Defensively, goalie Ashley Maribo tallied six saves for DSU (2-11).
