Rehoboth adds yard waste drop-off service

Posted

REHOBOTH BEACH — The city of Rehoboth Beach will begin accepting yard waste at its recycle facility beginning Monday.

Drop-off is available to Rehoboth Beach residents and licensed businesses but not commercial contractors.

Yard waste may be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at 37540 Oyster House Road.

While the city will continue to pick up residential yard waste on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month as part of its curbside services, the drop-off location adds another option for residents.

Yard waste that is dropped off need not follow maximum size requirements (as long as it fits in the 30-yard container provided) nor necessarily be bundled. The waste may be loose or in paper bags. No material in plastic bags will be accepted.

Acceptable yard waste includes trimmings, dead plants, flower and vegetable debris, hay, straw, ivy, leaves, shrub trimmings, pine cones and needles, tree limbs, weeds, wood chips and/or mulch.

The city’s recycle yard also accepts recyclable materials from residents and businesses during the same hours.
