Plantation Lakes golf & grille ready to be a Millsboro destination

With space to spread out, one good restaurant can provide different dining experiences all under one roof. Fine dining with sleek executive-type chairs? Check. Casual outdoor deck and patio with elegant fire pit? Check. Sports bar surrounded by giant TVs? Check. Ballroom that’s ready for major parties? Check!

Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club is a master-plan community in west Millsboro, Del., where The Landing Bar & Grille plays center stage in visits to the golf community.

“We won several best-of awards, and it’s surf and turf, so you can find something for anybody on the menu,” said Events Director Allison Lane.

With a new chef and a brand-new menu, the staff were excited to share their favorite dishes.

“There’s a carbonara pasta that he does for dinner. It’s delicious. It’s whipped with eggs, so it’s not like a heavy sauce,” Lane said. “Our chef’s really talented. And our salads are good too! Our burgers are one of our best sellers — it’s like a huge prime rib-blend patty.”

Even the bar food was pretty mouth-watering. “I’m a sucker for the new hand-cut and hand-breaded chicken tenders,” laughed General Manager Brian Fedish. “Everything is absolutely delicious. There’s a good variety, instead of just going to an Italian place or a seafood place. It’s different.”

The restaurant and 18-hole Arthur Hills golf course are both open to the public year-round. Walk-ins are welcome, although golf memberships can add up to some savings.

“It’s naturally beautiful and uniquely challenging … and we’re known for having some of the firmest, fastest greens around,” Fedish said.

In fact, folks can make a whole day of Planation Lakes. Grab a breakfast sandwich at the Putt Hutt, play a day of golf, and then dine at The Landing. It’s a one-stop-shop, or as Lane said, “Delaware’s hole-in-one: recreation, celebration, cuisine and lifestyle.”

Downstairs within the 22,500-square-foot Landing Clubhouse is a fully stocked golf pro shop and — incredibly — an indoor sports simulator. Guests can rent the room and spend a few hours ordering food and whacking real golf balls at a simulated screen. It’s fun for birthday parties and groomsmen after dressing for ceremonies. The system includes 70 golf courses, plus soccer, football, hockey, target practice and more.

Weddings and special events are perfect for the space, with lots of room to move around, plus beautiful landscapes just beyond the clubhouse (forest, pond, greens and wooden walkways).

“It’s a great central location between Ocean City (Md.) and northern Delaware. We are right in the heart of Delmarva, so everyone drives right through here. It’s very convenient …an easy on-off for Route 113,” Fedish said.

People have noticed the central convenience, as 1,246 housing units have been built as of this spring, half of the total expected build-out.

The Landing Clubhouse is located at 20301 Charlotte Boulevard, Millsboro, Del. For more details or reservations, contact (302) 933-8072 or visit www.plantationlakesclub.com.
