With the temperatures starting to feel more like fall, the high school football action is starting to get more intense, too.

Dover High's trip to Cape Henlopen for a 7 p.m. game today looks pretty big in Class 3A, District II. Both squads are 2-1 and riding two-game winning streaks.

Here's our predictions for all the downstate games.

Andy Walter, Delaware State News: 32-8
Tim Mastro, Delaware State News: 32-8
Glenn Frazer, 302 Sports: 33-7

Friday’s games
Odessa (1-0, 1-1) at First State Military (0-1, 0-2), 3:30 p.m.

Coming off the program’s first shutout win, the Ducks are going after a second straight victory.

AW: Odessa, 14-8; TM: Odessa, 20-14; GF: Odessa, 18-14.

Brandywine (0-2) at Indian River (0-2), 6 p.m.

Between them, the two teams have been shut out three times so getting a win will be big for one of them.

AW: IR, 13-8; TM: Brandywine, 20-10; GF: IR, 14-10.

Dover (0-0, 2-1) at Cape Henlopen (0-0, 2-1), 7 p.m.

With 3A’s Dist. II looking wide open, this showdown could end up being as big as any in the district this fall.

AW: Dover, 17-14; TM: Dover, 27-21; GF: Dover, 34-28.

Smyrna (1-1) at Caesar Rodney (0-3), 7 p.m.

The Eagles are still trying to get their offense on track but not nearly as much as the struggling Riders.

AW: Smyrna, 28-7; TM: Smyrna, 36-14; GF: Smyrna, 30-6.

Sussex Tech (0-1, 1-2) at Woodbridge (0-0, 0-2), 7 p.m.

Both teams are scuffling along right now but the winner will feel a lot better when the game is over.

AW: Sussex Tech, 22-19; TM: Sussex Tech, 21-20; GF: Sussex Tech, 14-8.

Polytech (1-0, 1-1) at Seaford (0-0, 3-0), 7 p.m.

The Blue Jays start their District II schedule on a roll but Panthers are coming off their first victory.

AW: Seaford, 33-20; TM: Seaford, 21-7; GF: Seaford, 28-16.

Milford (0-1, 2-1) at Delmar (0-1, 0-2), 7:30 p.m.

The Buccaneers look to bounce back against a Delmar squad coming off a tough one-point loss.

AW: Milford, 22-14; TM: Milford, 21-20; GF: Milford, 24-18.

Saturday’s games

Lake Forest (2-0) at Delcastle (0-1), 11 a.m.

The unbeaten Spartans head upstate for their second Saurday morning matchup in the last three weeks.

AW: Lake Forest, 34-8; TM: Lake Forest, 31-14; GF: Lake Forest, 28-14.

College

Merrimack (1-2) at Delaware State (2-1), 2 p.m.

After falling to the Warriors by 37 a year ago, the Hornets have some points to make up for in the rematch.

AW: Merrimack, 27-21; TM: Merricmack, 31-21; GF: Delaware State, 30-20.

Hampton (0-0, 3-0) at Delaware (1-0, 3-0), 6 p.m.

The Blue Hens are hoping to duplicate last week’s performance vs. URI when they host CAA newcomer Hampton.

AW: Delaware, 45-14; TM: Delaware, 38-14; GF: Delaware, 42-13.
