WESTOVER — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved boosters for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccines. Starting Nov. 3, the Somerset County Health Department offers Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer boosters as well as continuing to offer 1st, 2nd, and additional doses.
For individuals receiving a booster dose, proof of vaccination is required.
The Pfizer and Moderna boosters must be given at least 6 months after the initial series. Other eligibility requirements include:
The Johnson & Johnson booster must be given at least 2 months after initial J&J dose. Other eligibility requirements include:
The FDA has also approved “mix and match” COVID-19 boosters. This means that a single dose of any of the available COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J) may be given as a booster dose 2 months after a J&J vaccination and 6 months after a 2nd Pfizer or Moderna vaccination.
