CAMDEN - An 83-year-old woman was treated for smoke inhalation from a residential fire early Friday, authorities said.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office said the blaze in the 500 block of Voshells Mill Star Road was accidentally caused by combustibles stored too close to a central heating unit.

According to spokesperson Michael Chionchio, the Camden Wyoming Fire Company was called to the home shortly before 7:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene with an active fire inside the dwelling.

The woman was transported to the Bayhealth Kent Campus hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and burns. She is listed in stable condition, Mr. Chionchio said.

Authorities estimated fire damage at $150,000. The American Red Cross was contacted and will be providing emergency assistance to the victim.
