One dead in Harrington single-vehicle collision

HARRINGTON — Coffy Mumford, 47, of Harrington, was pronounced dead after her vehicle veered off U.S. 13 and crashed into a Verizon utility pole Monday, authorities said.

Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said the incident occurred at approximately 1:28 p.m. After the collision, the vehicle overturned and came to rest in a private driveway, she said.

Ms. Mumford was not wearing a seat belt, Cpl. Pepper said.

The road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours, as the incident was investigated and cleared.
