GEORGETOWN — The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal said it is investigating the Friday morning discovery of an object found on a construction site in the 22000 block of Dupont Boulevard.

First responders were called to the location around 9 a.m. when an object on a vehicle at the construction site resembled an explosive device, spokesman Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio said.

The Georgetown Police Department and Delaware State Police – Explosive Ordnance Disposal team arrived on the scene. The area was isolated, and the questionable object was rendered safe. No injuries or property damage occurred.
The components of the device are being analyzed to determine if the object was a functional explosive device.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call the State Fire Marshal’s Georgetown office at 856-5600 or email fire.marshal@delaware.gov.
