National Night Out returns to Dover Aug. 3

DOVER — The Dover Police Department will bring the National Night Out event to the local community from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Dover High School.

The event will bring city police, along with several emergency agencies and military personnel, together in one place with the public to help form a positive relationship with the community, according to a news release.

Families will be able to meet and greet local heroes and see the equipment used in their jobs.

In addition to appearances and demonstrations by the agencies, National Night Out will feature fun activities for all ages along with food and beverages for all while supplies last, police said.

The event venue is at 1 Dover High Drive in Dover.

This is the first National Night Out event since 2019. The 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

National Night Out provides a variety of agencies with an opportunity to show citizens what services they provide, the vehicles and equipment they use, and a chance to interact with personnel in a relaxed atmosphere, police said.

Police request that political candidates/officials do not campaign, nor distribute handbills or other materials at the event.

For more information or to register an agency/organization to set up a display at the event, email contact@doverpolice.org.
