LEWES — A 33-year-old Millsboro woman was charged with first-degree burglary following an incident on Maplewood Drive on Tuesday, authorities said.
About 3:27 p.m., a 33-year-old female resident was in the home when she heard the sound of her unsecured front door open and then yelling. When she walked into her living room, she observed an acquaintance, Dana Marie Gooner, standing there, police said.
Ms. Gooner allegedly shoved the victim as she approached, which caused her to stumble backward. The suspect then lunged at her, snatched her cellphone from her hand and fled the residence. Two children, ages 2 and 5, witnessed the incident, but there were no injuries.
Ms. Gooner was charged with first-degree burglary, theft under $1,500 and offensive touching. She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3, Georgetown, and committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution, New Castle, on a $5,200 cash bond.
