HARRINGTON — An 18-year-old Millsboro woman died in a vehicle crash on U.S. 13 Wednesday morning, Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

Police said the woman was a front passenger in a Jetta that collided with a Kentworth Truck that failed to remain stopped in a median crossover. The truck traveled into the Jetta’s path in the area of Tower Hill Road at approximately 10:24 a.m. The Jetta struck the wheels of a trailer the truck was pulling, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.

A 65-year-old Townsend man was driving the truck and was not injured in the collision.

An 18-year-old Dover man was driving the Jetta. He was transported by helicopter to an area hospital. The status of his injuries is unknown.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours as the crash was investigated and the roadway was cleared.

The DSP Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone who witnessed this collision or may have surveillance footage in the area is asked to contact Sgt. John Wheatley by calling 302-698-8518.
