Milford man arrested after firearm found

DOVER - Robert Monteagudo-Espinosa, 25, of Milford, was arrested after a firearm was found following a fight early Sunday, Dover police said.

Authorities said the sequence began when an officer heard a disturbance in a city parking lot on West North Street at 12:53 a.m. The officer exited his patrol vehicle and located a fight in a rear parking lot, spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.

Witnesses reported by witnesses that someone involved in the fight was in possession of a firearm, police said. The officer broke up the fight and took Mr. Monteagudo-Espinosa into custody without incident, police said.

Cpl. Schmid said a black 9mm Taurus handgun was located on the ground in the location where the fight occurred. An investigation determined that Mr. Monteagudo-Espinosa had possessed the firearm, police said.

Mr. Monteagudo-Espinosa was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, aggravated menacing, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $4,100 secured bail.
