DOVER — Masonic Charities of Delaware continued its support for local civic groups by contributing $53,500 to nine nonprofit, volunteer-run organizations that benefit youth, bereaved families, first responders and veterans across the state.

In August, Masons Fred Roland and Curt Cole presented checks to the following at the Masonic Lodge in Dover:

  • American Legion Post 10, Newark — The American Legion assists veterans with their needs.
  • The Blue Line Network — This group was established to support first responders and their families, including those who deal with PTSD.
  • Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans, Wilmington — The center provides housing and supportive services to homeless veterans by working with Veterans Affairs and other nonprofits.
  • Friends of the Fallen — The Friends provide service and support to families of fallen service members who travel to Dover Air Force Base to witness a dignified transfer.
  • Green Beret Project — This initiative supports young people from underserved communities by providing programs like mentoring, tutoring and community service.
  • Friends of Delaware Veterans — The group works in conjunction with the Delaware Veterans Trust to provide grants for veterans in financial emergencies.
  • Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 850, Kent County — The chapter hosts three events a year to honor Kent Countians lost in Vietnam, Korea and the Middle East.
  • Veterans United Outreach of Delaware — The ministry assists veterans to get the help they have earned. Outreach teams are on the streets, helping brother and sister veterans.
  • Warriors Helping Warriors, Middletown — The group educates, counsels and houses veterans and their families, while reintegrating them from active duty back into society.
