DOVER — A 44-year-old man was shot Friday night in the 200 block of Cecil Street, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Officers responded to a shots fired report at approximately 9:51 p.m. and found the man with a single gunshot wound to the lower leg, authorities said. He refused to provide any information to officers and became disorderly, police said. He also became disorderly with medics and attempted to refuse treatment, police said.

The man refused to sign a waiver to refuse treatment against medical advice and was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus, police said.

While at the hospital, according to police, the man continued to be belligerent with officers and staff, causing a disturbance. He was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct.
