POCOMOKE CITY — The Maryland State Police will get some national exposure to aid in their search for the man suspected in the murder of a woman found dead over a year and a half ago in Worcester County.

The District Court Commissioner’s Office in Worcester County has an open arrest warrant for William Edward Strand, then 52, of Pocomoke City. Strand is facing charges of first- and second-degree murder in connection to the death of Lesa Renee White, 48, of Atlantic, Va. Police discovered White on the evening of Jan. 6, 2021 in a residence in the 1400 block of Snow Hill Lane in Pocomoke City. Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators subsequently took charge of the investigation.

Family members reported White missing to the Pocomoke Police Department on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. According to a preliminary investigation, White, a Wicomico County correctional officer for 15 years, was last seen earlier that day in Pocomoke City. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore ruled her death a homicide and that she had been fatally shot.

Investigators have been searching for Strand — the father of White’s son — since the beginning of the investigation. There is also a warrant out for his arrest in a separate attempted murder case in Somerset County. He was last seen driving a 2014 Chevy Malibu with Maryland tag number 5DP3127.

On Wednesday, Aug. 24 the season four premiere episode of In Pursuit with John Walsh on Investigation Discovery will feature Strand — who goes by the nicknames “Chim” or “Shack Daddy” — and may be in Washington state where his brother lives.

Show hosts John Walsh and his son Callahan also have a one-hour special In Pursuit: Hot On The Trail  which will give updates on former cases. John Walsh has been driven to solve crimes since the 1981 abduction and murder of his six-year-old son Adam.

Anyone with information on Strand's whereabouts is asked to contact Maryland State Police at 202-510-2847. They may also call the television show’s call center at 1-833-3-PURSUE or submit a tip online at InPursuitTips.com.
