DOVER — A 20-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting incident on June 9.
Dover police said a man was shot eight times in his upper torso and upper extremities in the 100 block of South New Street. Police were called to the scene at approximately 9:53 p.m. and found the victim lying in the road. After officers provided first aid, medics transported the wounded man to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus.
Zaveon Murchison was developed as a suspect and police said he was arrested after he was found inside a home in the unit block of South Queen Street. He was taken into custody without incident.
Mr. Murchison was charged with first-degree attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on 565,000 cash bond.
The shooting was the second in the 100 block of South New Street in just less than a month at the time. A 23-year-old man was struck in the right forearm on May 11, according to police.
At the time of the June 9 shooting, Dover had seen six injurious shooting incidents since April 16, leaving seven people wounded. Additionally, two arrests were made in connection to 2021 shootings.
