Male cyclist dies in Dover hit-and-run accident

DOVER — The Dover Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run accident that occurred on Saturday.

Dover Police Department spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said officers responded to the area of South Governors Avenue and West North Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, officers found a 71-year-old male bicyclist on the road with fatal injuries. Witnesses reported that an SUV fled the scene after striking the bicyclist.

The man’s identity was not released Sunday.

The SUV fled northbound on South Governors and then westbound on West Loockerman Street.
