Time to wake up and smell the coffee, sooner rather than later.
Here’s another dire warning being ignored in Sussex County.
Already, newly built homes allowed on filled-in wetlands are causing homeowner grief, and developers are long gone
The lawmakers have also been warned repeatedly by the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, yet they cave in to developers’ manipulative lawyers and God knows what else, causing grief and anguish to the unsuspecting buyers.
It must stop.
The time is yesterday to utilize these warnings, instead of caving to deep-pocketed developers.
The media, too, has been much too silent about the warnings and dangers of building on wetlands and near tributaries.
It’s about time they, too, put people before profit.
It’s both our lawmakers’ and media’s reason for being — to advise and protect the people.
It’s time for it to be at the forefront, along with a new Delaware Department of Transportation strategy. DelDOT’s current broken-down, inadequate infrastructure road improvement plan of trying to play catch-up has created terribly dangerous driver conditions and severe medical emergency and transportation difficulties.
Serious vehicular accidents, too, are off the charts over the past couple of years.
Where’s the smart leadership by all?
Seems no one’s minding the shop in Sussex County.
